Pode Internar, Tá Louco / Lock Him Up, He’s Crazy
E nenhum outro, incluindo a seleção.
Lock Him Up, He’s Crazy
When pastimes lose their charm. I’ve reached an age where so many things I once loved have simply lost their magic. Take movies, for instance — most of the time, five minutes in and I’m already bored of the actors, the plot, the visuals.
Same goes for soccer... only Fluminense still makes me watch a match. No other team, not even the national squad, holds my attention. The bar is just too high to satisfy me now. My tastes have shifted a lot — with one exception: breaded steak with mashed potatoes. I’ve been eating it since childhood and still adore it.
I like to think that at the moment of reincarnation, while most people were standing in line for wealth and prosperity, I must have been in the cafeteria line, getting this recipe straight from an archangel. It makes no sense for a sane person to eat the same dish once a week for over 50 years and still savor it with a pleasure bordering on orgasm.
On my tombstone, I want it engraved: Here lies Luciano, lover of Breaded Steak and Mashed Potatoes. That about sums up my passage through this beautiful Earth, governed by Our Lord Jesus Christ. And if I ever get the honor of meeting Him personally, I’ll suggest that on His next visit to the blue planet, He multiplies breaded steaks and mashed potatoes instead — just to break the monotony of bread and fish.
Another note I’ll carry in the pocket of my suit is to remember to congratulate the inventor of the remote control. You can’t imagine the joy I feel sitting on my couch and piloting my Smart TV. I work out my finger so much that, if you looked at it, you’d think it belonged to King Charles. It’s chubby, strong... a true “cake-poker” of a finger, and maybe more.
Another thing I’ve been noticing a lot in this compulsive idleness is birdsong. I don’t know about where you live, but around here, their repertoire has gotten very limited. In the past, their singing had variety: a cadence, a long whistle, followed by little trills. Now it’s just one note. Tweet, tweet... and that’s it.
Then the bird lands, gives me a tweet, poops on my terrace, and flies away.
Now, I imagine old age must be completely different for the rich. If I were wealthy, the first thing I’d do would be to revamp my menu and hire an employee to imitate a songbird from the top of a tree. Oh, and of course — that employee would be operated by remote control.
And so I go on with my days: no patience for movies, indifferent to soccer, listening to off-key birds, and worshiping a dish that honestly deserves to be listed as world heritage. If UNESCO hasn’t considered it yet, it’s probably because they’ve never tasted breaded steak with mashed potatoes done the right way.
